IT System Administrator
The Information Technology System Administrator will:
Perform system security and maintenance, safeguarding systems against vulnerabilities as defined by Center IRD policies
Perform asset management of IT assets including laptops, desktops, workstations, servers, NAS's, firewalls,switches, routers, and wireless AP
Develop and maintain understanding of leading edge computer and graphical technology and integrate new technology into the existing systems to improve IT infrastructure
Effectively communicate with internal and external customers
Assist hardware engineers with integrating and troubleshooting IT systems
Tune systems and network to meet customer needs
Be responsible for rapid troubleshooting and resolving system issues
Be responsible for authentication approval and maintenance
Coordinate with external organization to perform security remediation
Be responsible for system communication, authorization and storage design, development and maintenance
Be responsible for software license management
Successfully operate in a highly dynamic simulations engineering environment with a team of engineers working to rapidly develop robotic systems functionality.

Qualifications - External
Required Education/Experience/Skills:
Typically has a BS degree in a computer or system science discipline from an accredited college or university and five
(5) years of progressive, relevant experience, or an MS degree in a computer or system science and four (4) years of progressive experience, or Ph.D. degree in a computer of system science discipline.
Experience developing and maintaining a simulation lab in the following specialty areas:
Linux/Unix System Administration
Network analysis, configuration and administration
System and software configuration management
System tuning and performance analysis to optimize up-time, quality of service
System requirements analysis
Firewall maintenance and administration
Security planning, implementation, and maintenance (disabling services, effective countermeasures, intrusion detection, firewall configuration, etc.)
IT hardware and software integration
Strong customer focus, highly effective communication skills, and the ability to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing engineering environment with demanding customers on a compressed schedule.
Preferences:
Experience with Ubuntu, terminal, Bash and Python
Experience with Linux-friendly network services (NFS mounts, LDAP authentication, backups and configuration management, consolidated logging, etc.)
Experience with Cisco switches, topology design, failover, management and accounting for IP addresses and network utilization
Experience with virtualization and containers (VMWare, Docker,etc.)
Experience with automation of system maintenance and reporting via scripting
Software license management
Johnson Space Center network familiarity
NASA Security familiarity (security plans, POAMs, Risk Assessments.)
Familiarity with JSC IT Security personnel (what networks are available, what security services are available, who to call when what happens,etc.)
Experience with DevOps practices and tools
